The word ‘Hygge’ is all about cosiness and comfort – how does that philosophy shape your hot chocolate brand?

We think Hygge epitomises everything we think a good hot chocolate – and our brand – should stand for. A moment, a feeling of calm, cosiness, home, warmth and sanctuary. There is no one word that sums it up quite like ‘Hygge’

With each tube of hot chocolate purchased, there is also a donation to mental health charity, Anxious Minds (www.anxiousminds.com). They do amazing work and we really feel these align with our brand.

What makes Hygge Hot Chocolate different from other hot chocolates on the market?

Well… you’ll have to taste it to really understand! We are really proud that most people who try it say it is the best they’ve ever had. I am a food scientist by trade and took years to develop the recipe. It’s all about the mouthfeel and that lasting chocolatey deliciousness on the palate.

Can you tell us about the ingredients you use and why they’re so important to the quality of your hot chocolate?

We use really really good chocolate, and lots of it!

What’s the secret to making the perfect cup of Hygge Hot Chocolate at home?

You deserve this moment of indulgence and relaxation – make sure you can really enjoy it. We are all too busy and we don’t take time to appreciate the world around us. I think the perfect hot chocolate should be a hygge moment – calm, cosy, safe. Whatever that is for you – walking the dog, staying at Rest at the Nest, looking up at the stars, or even just under your favourite throw with a good book.

Do you have a favourite topping or extra ingredient to enhance your hot chocolate experience?

Call me old fashioned but I do like marshmallows… Our hot chocolate is incredible with a drop of baileys. Our dark is good with a tot of dark rum, too..

How do you think hot chocolate adds to the overall experience of relaxation at Rest and Nest?

I think we were made for each other – we are super proud to be at Rest at the Nest, it’s such a beautiful spot. It is so cosy, it is a real sanctuary from everyday life. Turn your phones and laptops off. Just be present with a hot chocolate, in beautiful surroundings. That sounds like some serious self-care right there.

What are some of the most memorable moments or feedback you’ve received from customers enjoying your hot chocolate?

We’ve had a few that have said it’s the best thing they’ve ever tasted, that’s always a really proud moment. We’ve had one lady who said it should come with an addiction warning – we love her and she’s putting our kids through university… (only joking!)

If you could create a limited-edition seasonal flavour, what would it be and why?

We have actually developed a winter spiced orange but we didn’t launch it this Christmas – look out for it in October 2025!!

How do you ensure your hot chocolate is sustainably and ethically produced?

We sign up to something called Cocoa Horizons. Cocoa Horizons is an impact driven program focused on cocoa farmer prosperity and helping build self-sustaining farming communities that protect nature and children. The Cocoa Horizons Foundation is an independent, non-profit organisation supervised by the Swiss Federal Foundation Supervisory Authority.
